The short version. We use your footage to make your reels, to run Coda, and to make Coda’s editing better. We don’t sell your information, advertise with it, or let other companies train AI on it. Coda doesn’t recognize faces or identify anyone. Google’s Gemini analyzes your footage only after you allow it in the app. You can delete your account and your weddings in the app at any time.
This Privacy Policy explains how Clip Collective, LLC ("Coda," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, keeps, and protects personal information through the Coda apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, which appear in the App Store as Edit Coda, our website at editcoda.com, and the services behind them (together, the "Service"). Our Terms of Service also apply.
1. Scope and age limit
The Service is for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account. Children may appear in wedding footage that an adult uploads. That does not make the child an account holder or mean that Coda intentionally collects information from the child.
This policy covers information Coda processes for its own operations. When a studio, videographer, or other business customer uses Coda to process footage for its own clients, a separate Data Processing Addendum may divide responsibilities between that business and Coda. This policy does not cover third-party services you use alongside Coda, such as the platforms where you publish your reels.
2. Information we collect
| Category | Examples | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account and sign-in | Name if you share it, email address or Apple’s private relay address, Apple user identifier, account ID, session token, and a salted hash of your password if you sign in with email. We never receive your Apple password. | From you, and from Apple when you use Sign in with Apple |
| Age check | Where Apple provides it, an age range showing whether you’re 18 or older. We keep only the result of the check, never a birth date. | From Apple |
| Your content | Photos, videos, audio, music, wedding and project names, the choices you make, thumbnails, and finished reels | Uploaded or created by you or your teammates |
| Project and editing data | Coda’s analysis of your footage and music (such as scene, timing, and framing information, including generic person rectangles), your edits and style choices, and render status | Generated when the Service processes a project |
| AI permission record | That you allowed AI analysis, when, the version of the permission you saw, and your app version and platform | From the app |
| Purchases | Subscription status, product and transaction identifiers, wedding-credit balance, and refund or revocation status. We never receive your payment card details. | From Apple and our own systems |
| Workspace | Invitations, including the email address of the person you invite, roles, access events, and which workspace a project belongs to | From you and your use of team features |
| Support | Messages, attachments, requests, and records of our replies | From you |
| Operational and security | IP address, request times, device and app version, sign-in events, errors, abuse signals, and service logs | Automatically, from the app, our servers, and our service providers |
Coda removes location data from photos and videos on your device before they are uploaded, and we do not collect your precise location, contacts, or health data. The app contains no third-party advertising or tracking tools and does not use advertising identifiers. Our website does not use cookies or analytics.
3. No facial recognition or biometric identification
Coda does not create or store face embeddings, face templates, face descriptors, reference galleries, or persistent person identifiers. Coda does not compare faces, match a person across photos, videos, or weddings, identify or verify anyone, group recurring guests, or recognize emotions.
Photos and frames sent for AI analysis may show faces, because faces are part of the picture. What Coda asks about is the scene and the shot, such as whether it shows the ceremony or a first dance, never who anyone is. Coda does not request or receive a reusable representation of anyone’s face geometry or identity.
So that people aren’t cut out when a shot is cropped, our own servers may detect a generic person as a rectangle. This produces a position and a confidence score. It is not a face box, facial landmarks, body keypoints, an identity, or a biometric template. The rectangle itself is never sent to Google. Only simple measurements drawn from it, such as how many people are in a shot, may be. The resulting rectangle is kept with that wedding’s analysis and deleted with it. Any motion-based stabilization or tracking is limited to a single clip and is discarded once the crop is calculated.
4. How we use information
- Create the previews, reels, and other edits you request.
- Upload, process, analyze, organize, render, store, deliver, and support your projects.
- Sign you in and keep your account secure.
- Run subscriptions, wedding credits, watermarks, plan limits, and other entitlements.
- Run workspaces, invitations, collaboration, and sharing.
- Confirm that you’re old enough to use Coda.
- Send account and service emails, such as verification, password resets, team invitations, and important notices, and reply to your messages.
- Respond to support, privacy, security, and legal requests.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, infringement, malware, unauthorized access, and violations of our Terms.
- Debug, secure, maintain, and improve the Service, including Coda’s editing engine. We learn from editing signals, such as which suggested clips people keep, change, or relabel, and we may use your content and edits to train and improve Coda’s own editing models.
- Comply with law, enforce our agreements, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not let other companies train their AI models on it. When we use content to improve Coda’s own models, we never use it to recognize faces or identify anyone, and your footage never appears in anyone else’s reels. We will not use your footage or reels in our marketing without your separate permission. We don’t send marketing email today. If we start, every message will include a way to unsubscribe.
5. AI analysis
Coda uses automated processing, including Google’s Gemini API, to analyze your footage and build your edits. Before anything is sent, Coda asks for your permission in the app. Coda needs this permission to make reels. If you decline, nothing is sent, and Coda can’t make new reels until you allow it. Deleting your account stops all processing.
- What is sent: photos and still frames from your footage; basic details about each shot, such as when it was captured, how many people are in it, and how the camera moves; and details about the wedding that you choose in Coda, such as the song’s title and artist, the style, the venue type, the dress code, and any ceremony traditions.
- What is not sent: your video files or their sound, your name or email address, or names you type into Coda, such as the couple’s names or wedding titles.
Coda is configured to use Google’s paid, business-grade service under data-processing terms. Google does not use prompts and responses on this service to improve its products, but it may keep limited information to prevent abuse or as its service terms describe. Where approved and technically available, Coda uses zero-data-retention controls and avoids features that require additional storage, such as Search or Maps grounding. We will update this policy if the Google service or its retention settings materially change.
Automated editing does not make legal or similarly significant decisions about people. It creates media at your request, and you decide whether and how to use it.
7. Reels, links, and teams
Finished reels may be shared through long, randomly generated, unlisted links. We don’t publish these links, but anyone who receives or obtains one may be able to watch or download the reel. Links are not password protection, so share them only with people you trust. A link posted publicly can be copied or indexed by others, and we can’t control that.
If you create or join a workspace, authorized teammates may be able to see the workspace’s projects, footage, analysis, and finished reels, depending on their role. The workspace owner controls invitations and roles. Removing someone’s access does not delete copies they already downloaded or shared.
8. People in footage who aren’t users
Wedding footage may show couples, guests, vendors, bystanders, and children who don’t have Coda accounts. We receive that footage from the person or business that uploads it. The uploader is responsible for their relationship with the people they film, and for any notices, permissions, or releases their intended use requires.
If you appear in footage on Coda, you may contact the uploader, or email us at hello@editcoda.com, to ask for information or deletion. Because Coda deliberately does not recognize faces or keep a searchable index of people, we may need details to find the material by hand, such as the uploader or studio name, the event date, a share link, the approximate time in the video, or a screenshot. We will use those details only to verify and handle your request.
We may be unable to fully honor a request when we can’t reliably find the footage, when deletion would affect the rights of others, when the uploader has a lawful basis to keep the material, or when the law permits or requires us to keep it. For footage a business customer controls, we may refer your request to that business.
9. Children
Coda is not a children’s service, and no one under 18 may create an account. Where Apple provides an age range, Coda uses it to confirm that a person is 18 or older before they can sign up. If we learn that someone under 18 created an account, we may suspend it and delete information we are not legally required to keep.
Adults may upload lawful wedding footage in which children appear. Coda does not identify, profile, or group children. The uploader is responsible for any permissions and notices that the law, a contract, or the setting requires. Concerns about a child can be sent to hello@editcoda.com with "Child Privacy" in the subject line.
10. How long we keep information
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Uploaded photos and videos | Deleted automatically after 30 days without activity on the wedding, unless an active job, support request, security hold, legal obligation, or new activity delays it. |
| Uploaded music | Kept with the wedding and deleted with the wedding or your account. |
| Finished reels and project analysis | Kept while the wedding and your account exist, so you can watch, download, or remake your edits. Deleted when you delete the wedding or your account. |
| Deleted weddings | Held in Recently deleted for 30 days, where you can restore them, then permanently deleted. |
| Account, workspace, and permission records | Kept while your account or workspace exists, then deleted or de-identified, except records needed for security, fraud prevention, disputes, or the law. |
| Purchase records | Kept as needed to manage purchases and for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, refund, and audit purposes. |
| Operational and security logs | Kept for a limited period for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and legal needs, then deleted or de-identified. |
| Backups | Removed through ordinary backup rotation and protected from ordinary use while they exist. |
Deletion from our active systems may not reach every encrypted backup, cache, or service-provider system instantly. Remaining copies stay protected and are deleted through normal rotation unless the law requires us to preserve them. Improvements already made to Coda’s models remain after the data behind them is deleted. Apple keeps its own records of your purchases and subscriptions.
11. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app. Deletion removes your account and its personal information, including your weddings, footage, reels, team memberships, and permission records, from our active systems, except information we must or may keep for legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or compliance purposes. Removing media from our storage provider can take a short time to finish.
If you used Sign in with Apple, we revoke Coda’s access to your Apple Account when you delete your account. Deleting your Coda account does not cancel an Apple subscription, so cancel it in your Apple Account settings first if you don’t want future charges. Deletion can’t recall copies that others already downloaded or shared.
12. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit, encryption at rest where our providers support it, access controls, secret management, separation of each customer’s media, account and workspace authorization, vendor controls, logging, and deletion processes. No system is completely secure. Keep your own copies of your source footage, and take care when sharing links or inviting teammates.
If a security incident affects your personal information, we will investigate, contain, and document it, and give the notices the law requires.
13. Your privacy rights
In the app, you can delete individual weddings or your whole account. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings, and stop using Sign in with Apple for Coda there too.
Your rights. Depending on where you live and whether a particular law applies to Coda, you may have the right to know what personal information we have about you and to access it, correct it, delete it, or get a portable copy; to object to or restrict certain processing; to appeal if we deny your request; and to be free from discrimination for exercising a right.
How to ask. Use the controls in the app or email hello@editcoda.com. We may need to verify your identity and authority to protect your account and the people in your footage. An authorized agent may make a request where the law allows, but we may ask for proof of authorization and confirm directly with you. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. If we deny your appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.
Opt-outs. We don’t sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects, so there is nothing to opt out of today. We honor Global Privacy Control signals where the law requires. We also do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
14. California and other state disclosures
Where the California Consumer Privacy Act or a similar state privacy law applies, this table describes the categories of personal information we have collected in the past 12 months. Coda may fall below some of these laws’ thresholds, but we provide these disclosures for transparency.

We do not sell any of these categories or share them for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16. We keep each category as described in Section 10 and disclose it only for the purposes in this policy.
15. Where we process information
The Service is intended for users in the United States. We process information in the United States, and our service providers may also process it in other countries where they operate, which may have different data protection laws. Before offering Coda in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we intend to put the required regional notices, transfer safeguards, and request processes in place. If you use the U.S. Service from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, subject to applicable law.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service, our providers, or the law change. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date and, for material changes, give you notice in the app or by email, or ask for your consent where the law requires it.
